This Vingt-8 is one of the original 10-piece limited run made from titanium, representing one of the first appearances of the case material in Kari Voutilainen's work. This example is made visually distinct from the other nine watches within the series, with special features requested by the collector who originally commissioned the watch. Most notably, these include the tuxedo-esque, two-tone dial and sapphire cabochon set into the winding crown. The watch is engraved "limited edition" on the caseback and individually numbered out of 10.

WHAT MAKES A VOUTILAINEN WATCH?

After a period spent restoring some of the finest watches from the last three centuries, Kari Voutilainen set out as an independent watchmaker.

His work has been welcomed with great acclaim, on account of its unique aesthetic and quality. Every component in his watches involves manual labour: from the bridges and the smallest of screws to adjusting tolerances, polishing and angling.

His efforts have been recognised with more than half a dozen awards from the GPHG (Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève), the most prestigious award ceremony in the watch industry. The Vingt-8 collection has long been a centrepiece of the watchmaker's offering, representing the canvas on which he has continually experimented over the years.
