Hermès Equestrian Catchall, Silver

Believed to have been designed and crafted in France in the 1970s or 80s by Ravinet d’Enfert - the renowned Parisian silversmiths favoured by Hermès - the proportions of this silver dish are pleasingly shaped, resulting in the very natural, almost pebble-like appearance of the base.

Naturally, the most outstanding part of the dish is the curved handle that culminates in an elegantly cast horse head, adding a touch of whimsy and flair to an otherwise fairly functional object, and paying tribute to Hermès' equestrian history. The variations of these depictions form another interesting part of Hermès' long history, coming in all sizes and shapes and styles. Additionally, the dish has developed a patina over the years, showing the age of the object and only adding to its vintage allure.

Condition

This decorative catchall tray is in overall good condition. It features a heart-shaped and honest imperfection on the bottom, where the silver plating has been damaged. This can be re-plated by a specialist silversmith - we will leave this up to owner; however we feel this patina of personality adds to its charm - and to its (hi)story.
