Chronograph | Valjoux 71 | steel
Cal. Valjoux 71
The watch is a three-register chronograph, with three sub-dials featuring the thirty-minute counter at three o’clock, the twelve-hour counter at six o’clock and a running seconds at nine o’clock. The sub-dials have black stick hands and concentric engraved circles, creating depth on the face. The unrestored two-tone dial also features a blue “snail” tachymeter on the inner section of the dial, while the outer track denotes the chronograph seconds, offering balance and legibility. Further to this, the dial also displays layered Arabic numerals, which have aged to a golden yellow colour. Complimenting this purposeful, utilitarian timepiece is the addition of syringe hands, with beautifully aged lumes.
The unique story attached to this particular Heuer Chronograph is that its original owner was reported to be a former military officer. Whilst the inclusion of a tachymeter, over the more typical telemeter scale, would perhaps suggest, direct military issuance is unlikely. Either way, it is a fantastic looking vintage Heuer, with or without direct links to military usage. A rare example of a truly original, archetypal tool watch.
Powered by a Valjoux 71 calibre (found in early examples of the highly collectable A&F Seafarer), it features a three-register chronograph with running seconds at nine o’clock.
This watch is fitted with a Nato strap and a stainless steel tang buckle.
Viewings can be arranged in Central London by appointment.
