The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Chronometer was created in 1958 to mark the Manufacture’s 125th anniversary. It was aimed at scientists participating in the world’s first “International Geophysical Year”. In the midst of the Cold War, when thousands of researchers, from 67 different countries, agreed to work together to share knowledge in the Earth sciences. The Geophysic Chronometer accompanied researchers and explorers to many of the planet’s most inhospitable, unexplored places.
