Paying tribute to the brand's equestrian origins, this silver tray is an excellent companion to a desk or bedside cabinet, and can be used to display a collection of pens or as a receptacle for jewellery and watches.
Created by Ravinet d’Enfert, the renowned Parisian silversmiths favoured by Hermès, the beautifully cast horse head is the focal point of this piece. The detail found here is remarkable, as the curving horse head seems to rise out of the handle, with the muscular structure of the face depicted very vividly, and the strands of the mane flowing dramatically around the neck. Due to its age, the object has developed a variegated pattern of patina, which can be removed and polished, at the owner's request.
The tray itself has a large base with edge that curve upwards. Its central section contains a wave-type guilloché pattern, while the sides are polished. On the side of the tray, the Hermés Paris stamp can be found, as well as the Ravinet d’Enfert mark, and a Made in France engraving.
If sold within the United Kingdom, this Hermès tray will be subject to 20% VAT.
