Perpetual Calendar 5140G | White Gold
The Patek Philippe reference 5140 was first introduced in 2006, as the latest chapter in a legacy of great perpetual calendars. It is the follow up to the iconic 3940, which is considered to be one of the most important pieces of Patek's modern history, and with which a standard for all modern perpetual calendars was established. With its contemporary 37.2mm size, and svelte profile matched by a slim, micro-rotor movement, it is contemporary, yet refined.
The dial has three registers, with the various functions neatly balanced out. The sub-dial at three o'clock shows the leap-year counter and the months. In a similar fashion, the months and day/night indicators are placed at nine o'clock. The stunning moon-phase is placed at six o'clock, with the days of the month around it. The gold dauphine hands add a touch of masculinity to what only can be described as a beautifully executed dial. The overall look is refined and subtle, without compromising functionality.
Representing the best of Swiss design, the movement itself is no less a technical feat. This example has a sapphire case back, exposing the fantastic hand-finishing, the Genevian coat of arms and stripes, as well as the off-center, 22k gold micro-rotor. The ultra-thin, self-winding 240 Q base movement has been used by Patek Philippe since the 1970s, and continues to beat at the heart of their modern perpetual lines.
This Patek Philippe 5140G comes with its original, stamped Certificate of Origin from Patek Philippe (dated November 2008). It is also accompanied by its box and solid caseback replacement. It comes on its original black alligator strap, with matching Patek Philippe white gold deployante buckle.
Viewings can be arranged in Central London by appointment.
