This is a wholly unique expression of independent watchmaker Raúl Pagès’ Régulateur à Détente RP1. Part of a series of three watches, each with a unique colourway designed and crafted jointly with celebrated enamel artist Anita Porchet, it features a pearl grey dial and yellow subsidiary registers. The shades are inspired by Le Corbusier’s Architectural Polychromy that codified the Modernist architects’ preferred palette. Underneath is a manually wound calibre of Pagès’ design featuring a detent escapement.

“The colours for this special dial are inspired by Le Corbusier, the famous architect, who is also from La Chaux-de-Fonds. He developed a special palette of colours, the Architectural Polychromy in 1931 and added to it in 1959. The collaboration with Anita Porchet was very fluid. I had colours in mind, but I made it known to her that she was free to explore and make suggestions based on her tastes. She employed her understanding of colour science, where a large surface of a more muted shade of enamel, finished in a different texture, shines a light on elements done in a brighter shade. This play of colour is very interesting."

- Raúl Pagès

“I was able to talk to him about materials and the shades and how they play together on the dial. Raúl brings a palette, but you have to consider and adapt it to the size of the object. Frankly, it's exciting because something that works on a building or large edifice might not work on small scale, like a watch dial. The trick is knowing how to interpret all that. There was a problem of fragility with the colour that Raúl wanted, as well as one of visual balance. Those are perhaps the limits we work to. However, they can also be advantages. We accept such limitations less and less in our world, but I think they're really interesting because we wouldn't have discovered these two colours if we hadn't come upon the limitations with the original colour scheme”.
