The applied numerals float above the dial, giving it a greater sense of depth. Some brushed elements remain, found at the seconds sub-dial, power reserve indicator, and on the cartouche bearing Smith's signature just below the 12 o'clock numeral.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnother modern choice is the monochromatic colour palette, with the deep purple — almost black — applied numerals and hands a delightful contrast against the textured background. The inner section of the sub-dial features a hob-nail pattern of engine turning, providing a varied sense of texture across the dial.
