Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time Paris Boutique edition No. 002/100 | 600.3.16.S | white gold
These two timezones, home and travel, are displayed on the right and left sides of the dial. The home dial, with four applied Arabic numerals and a painted minute track, is placed in the first quarter and features white gold hour and minute feuille hands. To set the travel-time apart, the travel sub-dial in the last quarter shows time through an aperture at twelve o'clock, with a digital jump-hour disk with blue numerals (and red for the seven and nine, a tribute to Jaeger-LeCoultre's Paris Boutique address). To further differentiate the two timezones, the travel time features a blue minute hand and a painted minute track with Arabic numerals for every ten seconds. Below these two dials are the two individual power reserve indicators and the silver centre seconds hand. To complete this travel watch, at six o'clock is the aforementioned Worldtime indicator. While it does not display the name of the cities for the various time zones, it allows the wearer to have a complete overview of the local times across the world. The sub-dial rotates once a day, and features the day/night function, as well as a +/- ring. And with its stunning bright blue and rose gold globe, it further evokes the traveller character of the watch.
The aspiration to travel does not stop on the front of the dial. It also features the ring of cities on the edge of the back case, with their corresponding difference from London's Greenwich Mean Time. In the middle, the sapphire display back reveals the complexity of the Caliber 383 movement. Compared to the number of displays, the movement is reasonably small, though it is made of a mighty, 498 hand-finished components. The hallmark of the Dual-Wing is that the two timekeeping mechanisms have their own 50-hour power reserve, enabling better accuracy. So there are actually two separate movements, each with a gear train and a main spring barrel, with one being devoted to local time and the other to showing the time in a second time zone. They are connected in the middle of the movement by a shared regulating organ and wound by the unique crown (forward for the first barrel and backward for the second barrel).
Viewings of this unique Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Travel Time can be arranged in Central London by appointment.
