This pre-owned, stainless steel Heuer Camaro (ref. 7743 - Cal. Valjoux 7733) watch has great mechanical functionality and the case retains its fantastic, sunburst finishing in its original, vintage condition. This vintage Heuer is from circa 1969 and is guaranteed for authenticity. As a vintage watch, we cannot warranty its current water resistance.

The Camaro range is a great, perhaps under-appreciated range for Heuer enthusiasts. Camaros have many of the features of the Heuer Carrera range, from the styling of the tachymeter scale to the steel, applied index markers and lumed batons. Whilst the 36mm case sizes of the Carreras from the 60s and 70s may appear small for today's watch collector, thanks to the cushion shape of the Camaro, the latter feels more prominent, and thus more contemporary, with the elegance of a vintage sports watch.

Named after the Chevrolet Camaro (a marketing strategy from Jack Heuer to tap into the American market), it was in production for 4 years only, and was the last range to feature a manual-winding chronograph movement. Despite its namesake, it lacks the arrogance of a racing muscle car. In fact, the faded black dial appears dark grey, giving this Heuer Camaro a restrained, smart and versatile look, from dress to casual.

The stainless steel, cushion case measures 37 mm. The two sub-dials at three and nine o'clock are the thirty-minute and sub-second registers, with white stick hands. The main dial features the original, lumed batons and a white chronograph hand. The monochrome look of the watch is complemented by a brown strap, with the added benefit of making it suitable for casual wear as well.

This Camaro is powered by the Valjoux 7733 manual-winding movement. It has approximately 45 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement is essentially identical to a Venus 188. After Valjoux incorporated Venus in the mid-1960s, the latter's prestigious column-wheel and rattrapante movements were sidelined in favour of the more economic and scalable 188 line. The reason behind its affordability laid in the cam switching technique, which significantly lowered production costs. Despite its 'humble origin', it was a very impressive and robust calibre, and with slight modifications, it was eventually turned into the Valjoux 7750, still in production and in high demand. In fact, it is the most popular chronograph movement ever produced. Not bad for a chronograph movement that was originally created in the 1940s.
