Tri-Compax Triple Calendar Moonphase Chronograph | 222100/2 | steel
Ref. 222100/2
The Tri-Compax comes in many variations, both in case shape and dial style, with this one being a later variant, featuring a distinctive Bombay-style case, with downturned twisted lugs. Sized at 36mm and 13mm thick, it has a nice modern presence on the wrist, complemented by the round pump pushers.
The unrestored silver metallic linen face has vertical brushing, creating a nice texture and depth to the dial, and contrasting with the concentric patterned recessed subdials. All hands are original, including the distinctive red subdial hand at twelve o’clock, that denotes the date. It has a tachymeter on the outer track of the dial, taking up a large space, and giving the otherwise busy dial some much-needed balance. It is understandable why Tri-Compaxes are beloved by collectors; the subdials have fantastic proportionality, plus there is the vintage charm of the aesthetic.
Powered by the in-house Cal. 281, it features a triple calendar, chronograph and moonphase. The name ‘Tri-Compax’ stems from this, denoting that the watch has three complications. These complications can be set through the small pushers, found on the left side of the case.
This watch comes on a period stainless steel bracelet. It is very rare to find a Tri-Compax as a full set, and to find one such as this example is really a collector’s dream.
Viewings can be arranged in Central London by appointment.
