Universal Genève Tri-Compaxes are continuously sought-after by collectors and watch lovers. Part of their charm is their complexity, offering a triple calendar with a moonphase and chronograph functions, while retaining a beautiful aesthetics. With Universal Genève being the first maker of a wristwatch with two chronograph pushers, this stunning piece belongs to a historical horological lineage. This stunning stainless steel example is from late 1945 and while featuring hints of colour, it makes a stunning dress watch on the wrist.

This stainless steel case has a 35 mm diameter, flat chronograph pushers and a snap-on case-back. The left side of the case features three pushers for changing the month, moon-phase and date functions. It comes on a brown HODINKEE calfskin strap with an unsigned, matte tang buckle.

The original unrestored white dial has a beautiful vintage patina, painted Arabic numerals, with 'UNIVERSAL GENÈVE', 'TRI-COMPAX' and 'SWISS' referenced on it. Lume filled sword hands mark the hours and the minutes, while the sub-dials and the chronograph movement has blue steel batons, with latter having an elegant pear-shaped counter-balance. This complex watch has a thirty-minute register at three o'clock, a twelve-hour register at six o'clock and the sub-seconds register at nine o'clock. At noon, the dial features an aperture for the moon-phase and another sub-dial with a red stick hand to show the date. On the left and right sides of it, apertures reveal the day and the month, respectively. The tachymeter graduation at the perimeter completes this truly stunning watch dial.

This vintage Tri-Compax is powered by the 17-jewel in-house Calibre 481, beating at a rate of 18,000 A/h. The complicated movement has straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance and a Breguet balance spring.
