This pre-owned, oversized stainless steel Universal Genève Tri-Compax (ref. 22536 - Cal. 287) watch is in fantastic condition and has perfect mechanical functionality. It has been fully-serviced and it comes with a twelve-month limited warranty from WATCH XCHANGE. This stunning Universal Genève is from circa 1944 and is guaranteed for authenticity.

This Universal Genève Tri-Compax has straight-line lugs and the oversized 36.5 mm Enversteel case has flat chronograph pushers and a snap-on case-back. The left side of the case features three pushers for changing the month, moon-phase and date functions. It comes on a dark brown crocodile strap with a stainless steel tang buckle.

The original unrestored white dial has a beautiful vintage patina, painted Arabic numerals, with 'UNIVERSAL GENÈVE', 'TRI-COMPAX' and 'SWISS' referenced on it. Lume filled sword hands mark the hours and the minutes, while the sub-dials and the chronograph movement has blue steel batons, with latter having an elegant pear-shaped counter-balance. This complex watch has a thirty-minute register at three o'clock, a twelve-hour register at six o'clock and the sub-seconds register at nine o'clock. At noon, the dial features an aperture for the moon-phase and another sub-dial with red stick hands to show the date. On the left and right sides of it, apertures reveal the day and the month, respectively. The tachymeter graduation at the perimeter completes this truly stunning watch dial.

This vintage Tri-Compax is powered by the 17-jewel in-house Calibre 287, beating at a rate of 18,000 A/h. This complicated movement has a Breguet hairspring and an outstanding column-wheel design. Based on the Calibre 285, its production started in 1944. This iconic base movement was created by Martel, and by using its variable diameter technology, the Calibre 287 came in a 33.2 mm (15 lignes) size, with a mere 6.05 mm thickness. Like the other movements belonging to this prestigious family of movements, it was also shared with Zenith (Calibre 156).
Please note, that one of the three smaller pushers on the left hand-side of the case has been expertly replaced at some point in the past. This in no way affects the functionality of the watch and is barely visible.
